This is it. I guess when all is said and done, I've learned that I am still NOT comfortable with the internet. It still frustrates me, and leaves me with the desire to throw the whole thing out the window. I did learn that there are things out there that I currently have no interest in, but that if time permits, I may go and search to see if I change my mind. (downloading some of the different audios.)
Would I take this course again if offered? only if I knew that there was a special groups of people available to help... maybe those of us who have difficulties on a regular basis, could meet at an assigned time, work quietly and then when there was a problem, we could all meet with it together. I couldn't have been the only person who had such a hard time with these assignments.. I hated the feeling that I was interupting someone who was working to get help. Then after being told that we weren't suppose to get help from IT, that it must be an IT problem, check with them...
So that's all I have to say...

gaming
This is yet another assignment that i didn't do on work time. I love playing games on POGO. don't get me started. I won't stop... both yahoo and pogo have a lot of similar games. I have discovered that the chat on Pogo is more entertaining. whether it is between kids or adults, if it gets disgusting I can go to another room, but for the most part its fun. Yahoo, is just kinda there. Also with Pogo the pay plan is different... i get bored easy with one game... downloading yahoo, i get bored after a month of play... playing games, puzzles whatever keeps your mind active, young ect. whether you are young or old... add computer skills, what better way to learn to use the computer, mouse and other tools...
geotagging--mapping
I've had fun with smoe of the different mapping on the computer. I frequently use the computer to get driving instructions... I've also zoomed in on classmates--classmates.com... I didn't actually take the time to do this one at work.. but I knew this one was available, in different formats, and many different uses. there is a site that lets you look at your neighborhood and price the houses -- this seemed more important in a better economy.--
avatars---
Well, i went in and created an avatar on doppelme and used the key to post it on blogger. as you can see, it is not there. big surprise... but ive spent as much time on this one as i dare... I have avatars on pogo and am happy with that. if someone wants me to have an avatar other than that, well they can create it to my specifications, and make it work...

web based apps
Well big surprise. i had problems here too. Google docs weren't a problem. didn't like them because i couldn't get a print preview and am not going to spend a long period of time learning something if i don't have to, or i don't have someone helping me.
the zoho apps wouldn't let me in. and i had a choice between continuing to try & go in and play or writing in the blog. (or just ripping out my hair) no combination of e-mail & passwords would let me in. it did not recognize either my gmail or my yahoo, which my yahoo i've had for several years. close to ten now. I know that password...
I find that alot of these 20 for 2.0 are not really worthwhile, because while i know they are there, I am having too much trouble to spend any time with them. since I am having such a bad experience with them, I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. I would never go back and spend my own time on them, as I see them as a waste of time. At this point, I am so frustrated with all of them, that if it were not expected of me, I wouldn't finish them, as they are, to me, just that. A frustrating waste of time. and that's how if i remember them in the future i'll remember them...

search engines
Well, search engines are something I understand... sorta... I find it interesting that the berkeley article does not recommend using meta-search engines, and yet we are suppose to try dogpile and the like.... I like search engines, anything that will help me find what I am looking for? love it... google and yahoo. are talking about combining something, tho. I think it might just be advertising. Not sure if this will eventually affect the engines themselves...
g-mail, blogger and the rest of it...
6/6/08 Well this was one nasty day... I had trouble with everything i was working on. I finally just gave up. When i was trying to listen to something, it would send me to blogger, and ask me to sign in, but would not recognize my passwords. I shut everything down and it let me sign into blogger, but nothing else. I was done for the day... I had enough. this is why i dislike computers and everything to do with computers...

podcasts
this is just about as much as I can stand. glad i'm caught up and done for the week. Before I was done, google kicked me out and would not let me into the reader or into blogger. I had to exit everything, and I could not be in more than one thing at a time. Cound not be in mail and reader, or mail and blogger or any combination of anything. of any files. I had to close the file with all my passwords in it. and I had that open so I knew i was typing the right passwords...
I listened to one podcast... and when i selected the second one is when all Hell broke loose. so... its a good thing podcasts weren't something i was interested in either...

custom sign generator
Well that was a bit more fun.. I tried sending the book cover I made though and it said that I had to be referred from the web site that I came from. so it wouldn't send me... If this process wasn't frustrating enough... Do I need to go into how much I hate writing?
Overdrive
Well after some fighting I figured out how to search for titles. I even found 1 that I would read and checked it out. I could not figure out how to downlad it though. a message came up saying there was a problem and I could not figure out where to go from there. There's no one near to ask for help. And I am under the impression that we aren't suppose to ask IT for help. I think tho' that this as all part of having a new computer...
delicious
Well when this assignment was assigned, I read and installed the buttons like i was supposed to. Then I was given a new computer that took away the bottons. when I tried to reinstall the buttons the new computer said that the server network would not allow it. I give up...

wiki
Well, wiki wiki wiki's can cause some wikid problems or they look like they can solve some problems. I like the idea of creating the camping list. That would work out for a group of people in any geographic group. it seems that the brainstorming works well.
but there have been problems with the wikipedia type sites. when you get people with varying amounts of knowledge adding their input to a site, EVERYONE must be informed and understand that the site does not have high credentials.
I liked the book review and can see using a wiki site for processing. but this all goes back to time. setting things up. inputting information. etc...

YouTube
YouTube is not really my thing. although I did see that they have some of the same things that Godtube has on it. Not really interested in sorting through the trash to get to it. I have gotten some emails with stuff on YouTube. But Youtube doesn't seem to function properly on my work computer. Not really my problem... I spent most of my time waiting for YouTube to work. I thought it was just slow. Evidently they want you to uninstall and reinstall something to make it function. Not my thing. I don't need to know how to install things for my position. I have books & media to process. Priorities.

myspace
Well, I cannot believe people actually spend time putting together a myspace page. it seemed tlike it took forever. I have gone and looked at my nieces pages on various occasions. I have also learned new words from their friends... this was ok. not something that i would want to do everyday, or week or hmmm...

Flickr
Okay, this one was not so fun... I spent far too much time looking at pictures and the ones that I liked, had copyrights. if they were ok, I didn't feel compelled to write about them. The ones that made me sick, well no one wanted me to put on my blog and actually say that did they?
So I had one picture on my computer, taken with my cell fone, of my puppy. after fighting with the computer, There is Bella and her best friend Bobby. They are the same age, a day apart. and 3 months old in this picture. He is now well over 15 pounds and she is still a tiny little 4+ pounds. and they look pretty much the same today, when we can get them calm together. he chases her, and she teases him... she knows how to get him in trouble. typical kids

put another nickel in...music, music, music
Okay, this one was actually fun. First, i already knew that my radio station had streaming whatever. I've listened to it while working on the computer many times. So that was easy. then i went over to Pandora to see what they had to offer. that was fun too. Unfortunately , for some reason a lot of my artists aren't listed. BUT, some of the rarer ones are. Then I selected my WHOLE genre, and put that in there, and figure that when i am in the mood for music, I'll do what i'd normally do, pick a single or a group. a "cd" or my "ipod" or "radio" without I presume commercials. the other cool thing was that they had biographies on some of the artists, and some of these people I hadn't heard of in a while. Others, I had just finally tracked done CD's of. I guess for the ones that I want to hear if they are as good as I remember, and are listed, before I buy the cd. If not I buy the CD first. I still would trade in my ipod. and I still like my streaming radio station for the people talking, (i could do without the commercials.) but this one left me excited...

rss
Well, i just finished last weeks project. I am not sure that i found things that i was interested in. I'll need to go back later and spend more time looking. the catagories were too broad. i did get dilbert attached to this blog, but don't expect me to know how i did that. and it may never happen again. playing on the computer is one thing. actually knowing what i am doing is another.

I'm not sure that I enjoy this..
Well on to lesson four. This does not seem to be getting easier. IM is not a problem. I have used it before, but never have cared for it as a mode on communication. It is nice when the alternative is long distance, and such, but the delay between typing and sending and responding seems to take forever.
Cool there is even a message on the bottom of my screen saying this may not post because Blogger cannot be contacted. 101 reasons I cried my way through DOS, and this was before the internet.
I went back and read some of others posts, they seem to understand all this OK. a few seem to feel like me. I still am looking forward to some things, maybe not so others...

tracking my progress
I am still not overly comfortable using these modules. Reading other peoples thoughts and conversations always makes me feels like a voyeur. I know I am suppose to pretend this is just one big classroom where I cannot see my classmates, and they are asking questions, or making statements, but it still feels weird. For some reason, it is worse than being in a gameroom at home on the computer.

setting things up.
Okay, it took a while, but I finally got this set up. this project requires far too many passwords. Passwords to protect passwords. I could see where a person could go nuts with this.
